Does ADT Work with Google Home And Amazon Alexa?

It’s no secret ADT has watched over families for more than 150 years, but you may ask yourself if this revered name in home security can provide the everyday convenience of voice activation. You’ll be pleased to hear the answer is yes! ADT works with Google Home and Amazon Alexa, and there’s plenty you can control. Explore what’s possible and get tips for incorporating voice activation into your modern home security system.

Here’s What Voice Commands Can Do In Your Napa Home

Now that you know you can control your ADT home security with Amazon Alexa and Google Home, you may be curious as to what’s possible. Here are a few examples:

  • Arm and disarm your system
  • Adjust smart lights
  • Control connected smart locks
  • Adjust thermostat settings

If you’re busy helping kids or making dinner, and need a simple way to turn on lights or change the temperature, just say the command. It’s easy and lets you control your system without picking up your phone or navigating to the touchscreen panel.

Manage Your ADT Equipment With These Voice Instructions

A simple verbal command is all you need to operate your integrated ADT devices. Keep in mind, When controlling a device, such as your bedroom light or front door lock, you’ll need to use the same name you used when first setting up the device.

Manage your ADT tools with these Google Home commands:

  • Hey Google, arm my system stay.
  • Hey Google, arm my system away.
  • Hey Google, lock the (door name).
  • Hey Google, turn on the (light name).
  • Hey Google, turn the heat up by 4 degrees.

Amazon Alexa requires somewhat different commands, but it operates about the same. Here a few sample commands:

  • Alexa, arm ADT in stay mode
  • Alexa, disarm ADT
  • Alexa, turn on the (light name).
  • Alexa, [[lock the (door name)]].
  • Alexa, set the (thermostat name) to 68 degrees.

You can also use voice commands to ask questions. You may want to check if your back door is locked or the current temperature setting. Just speak a command like, “Alexa, is the (door name) locked?” and you’ll hear an answer.

Is There Anything You Can’t Do With Voice Controls?

Voice integration has some limitations. For instance, you can’t change or configure settings in your home security app by speaking instructions. You’ll also have to provide a PIN number when completing certain tasks, such as unlocking a door or disarming your alarm system.
